Srinagar Biennale (web)

tags: biennale

Surfatial’s objective is to create a network of sharing, building and disseminating alternative pedagogies and self-woven visions of the world. We imagine institutional art to be a non-entity. The web is designed to deal with the imaginations of non-entities in a boundary-less space. We want to bridge non-entities which are inhibited by the flow of conversations that do not include them. Surfatial challenges the stagnation of knowledge frameworks and existing modes of inhibited communication. Our current interest is in extending human networks of access and blurring borders between narrative and noise.

How do we include everyone in the idea of Srinagar? Does a special gesture have to be performed or displayed? We are concerned with the collective acceptance of ideas and practices which are alienated.

We imagine linking hyper-text and hyper-vigilance. Hyper-vigilance fragments us. We need to be self-aware before we can become aware of the other, even if the two have no connection. The network connects and holds together fragments. The web can thus assist in our fragments discovering themselves.

Principal Questions:

  1. How will interactions happen on the web for the Srinagar biennale?
  2. What will the interactions be about?
  3. Who will interact with whom?
  4. What formats of interaction will there be?
